Welcome from the Chairs:
What percentage of Arizona's exports, would you say, goes to European markets? 2%, 5%? Actually Europe represented as much as 20% of Arizona exports in 2005 and export flows towards this part of the world keep growing (U.S. Census Bureau). Because of its interest in promoting US-European relations, in Fall 2006 the University of Arizona founded the European Study Group, which is currently hosted in the department of Geography and Regional Development.
To achieve its goals, the Study Group has created a core interdisciplinary graduate seminar that brings together students and faculty from across the campus in linguistics, anthropology, sociology, history, geography, agriculture, economics, law, and political science.
As part of the Good Governance Consortium , a coalition of 3 US and 4 European universities promoting programs of student exchange and credit recognition, the Group offers teaching, research and outreach activities related to European studies at the University of Arizona, as well as throughout the local community, the state of Arizona, and the southwestern United States. This website provides detailed information regarding the various programs and activities supported by the European Study Group. Please contact us if you need any additional information.
